Center for Intelligent Computing (CIC) will be the first ASOF-designed research and educational center to launch in Armenia. The initial infrastructure budget for $8.5 million has now been approved by the government of Armenia and will involve the purchase of 64 H100 nVidia GPU's. CIC will be located at Yerevan State University (YSU) and will likely launch in September 2024, when we are expecting the delivery of the nVidia GPU's. CIC will focus on Artificial Intelligence research, including application to robotics, the life sciences, chemistry, and language models. The compute power will be the largest in the region, and the seed scientific staff will consist of the team from YerevaNN. The Center's executive director will be Hrant Khachatrian.
CIC will also introduce to YSU a new governance model designed by ASOF: a research operation led by a Board of international scholars with proper research independence that is familiar to international scholars and suited for international collaborations. The proposed model is to be voted on by the YSU Board of Trustees at the end of December 2023.
CIC will also be supported by a new ASOF Committee serving as an advisory council for the CIC Board.
