Abstract

A Center for Environmental Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences – we present the first sketch of a cross-disciplinary project in the humanities, articulating fine arts, design studies, philosophy and the social sciences. The essential drive behind this project is to be able to explore and deepen the questions around our relation with the land. Introducing and fostering environmental philosophy, ecological art practices, and the social issues triggered by the transition toward a sustainable society, in Armenia is a necessity. This combination allows to create a strong network of international scholars (Armenian and non-Armenian). The ultimate goal is to develop expertise and spread the public debate on the issues of sustainability in Armenia, and have Armenian scholars contribute to the international research in the field.
